When I told Oscar I was going to make apple jam for him his eyes opened wide and he said “I didn’t know you could make apple jam!”. I have previously made apple and pear jam (which Oscar just thinks of as pear jam), but this time I wanted to make just apple jam. I found this recipe on Indian Food Forever, and didn’t have to change any ingredients, just a little change to the method – I used a cook top instead of a fire :). The verdict? One bite of his apple jam on fresh bread and Oscar exclaimed “DELICIOUS!”. I think it tastes pretty good too, and if moderate salicylates are tolerated it makes a good change from pear jam.
