Well my last choko has died. It was about 6 weeks ago, but I kept forgetting to write an update on it. It was doing well until something started eating it. I covered it with a plastic drink bottle for a while but as soon as I removed it, it was gone. Something ate the whole shoot, all the way back to the fruit it came from.
For a bit of history:
First Attempt
Attempt Number 2
One Still Hanging in There
Should I try again?
A pot is a good idea, maybe one more try then.
I could shoot myself…. we had a Choko plant all over our back fence in Melbourne when we moved in. And we made sure that disgusting looking thing was dead, dead, DEAD!
We're yet to even try eating Choko as I can't bring myself to buy them…. when we used to have them dropping on our heads for free. 🙁
I've only seen prolific ones but I don't know the secret. Is it possible to grow in a pot until it's a bit more established? Then you might be able to protect it in the pot a bit more?
